The Nullarbor Muster was formed in 1982 when a small group of Nullarbor pastoralists gathered together in a shearing shed. The result was the formation of the club and the setting out of the framework for the Nullarbor Muster as it exists today. Those people had the foresight to realize that it was something special that they were creating, providing a venue for people including those who had long since left the Nullarbor or lost their association with it.

The weekend is a 3-day non-stop event, and visitors can witness fun gymkhana events with competitors from surrounding stations competing for the accolades, plus exciting bull riding. You can participate in skeet shooting and arm wrestling competitions or just sit back and watch all the action.

For anyone who has not been to the Nullarbor Muster, it truly is an experience for those who love 'The Bush'. From Kalgoorlie, you set off along the Trans Access Road that parallels the Trans Australian Railway line. Relics from passing years before are still visible. The dusty but transversal road continues eastward for 370 km. The timbered landscape gives way to the sparsely vegetated Nullarbor Plain where the stars never shone brighter. Eventually the traveler reaches the almost abandoned railway siding of Rawlinna and then there is the dim glow of camper's camp fires and the milling and excitement of the events planned.
